Tokyo District Court, December 2021. Akihiro Ehara is accused of molesting a female passenger on a crowded train. A bystander’s video recording of his attempt to flee the incident and subsequent arrest has gone viral, and public outrage has demanded the highest sentence.

“A dead body was discovered three days earlier in an abandoned building in Yokohama. “Have you found it yet?” As pandemonium sweeps over the courtroom, he declares.

Saori Shirosaki, his defense lawyer, believes that essential facts of the situation were neglected because Ehara was never tried for murder. She asks detective Takayuki Yagami to look into this further.
